Overstrand Church

"Arts & Crafts" building, erected in 1898 on land given by Lord Battersea, who asked his friend & architect, Edwin Lutyens, to design it (as well as his own home, the Pleasaunce, also in Overstrand). Lutyens' design was inspired by a Victorian lifeboat house: appropriately given its proximity to the sea.

That is what it was intended to look like, and indeed many visitors to the village ask if it was once the village lifeboat station!
